By Air

Thailand is well served by a large number of budget and scheduled airlines, with flights to a variety of domestic and international destinations. Fares fluctate on a daily basis and there are always discounts and special offers to be had, depending upon the selected airline, journey to be made and the departure and return dates.

By Rail

There is something special about rail travel in Thailand.

As well as allowing you to relax and enjoy the journey at a more leisurely pace than is possible by other means, the train also provides a closer look at Thai culture. At each stop new sites and sounds, tastes and smells, board the train, letting you experience the flavours of local produce while you watch the spectacular Thai landscape drift past your window.

The State Railway of Thailand serves all parts of Country and has routes into neighbouring countries as well, for example to Malaysia and SIngapore in the south.

Rail travel in Thailand is most definitely not for those looking to get places in a hurry, but it is safe, surprisingly cheap, and as comfortable as you want it to be: whether you select a third class bench, or the luxury of a first class sleeper.

By Road

Thailand has an extensive and modern network of highways and it is possible to reach most parts of the country from Bangkok within a few hours and by a variety of means.

Bus and coach services offer the cheapest option, and are run on a very regular service to all parts of the country. If you are travelling as part of a small group then hire of a minibus and driver can offer a very cost effective solution that also provides greater flexibility since they can remain available to you once you reach your destination.

Taxis and chauffeured limousine services, while perhaps more appropriate for short journeys and airport transfers, can also be hired from reputable companies for longer trips at very reasonable rates.

Self-drive car-hire is also available from many internationally recognised providers who operate modern and well maintained fleets of cars at reasonable rental rates. You will need an international driving license, a roll of toilet paper and a sense of adventure, but the vast majority of Thailand's road network is well signposted in both Thai and English, so there is little need to worry about getting lost.
